Does Any Charcoal Get Into The Body?

It is completely nontoxic and totally excreted through the colon without any of it getting into the general circulation of the body. As it moves through the intestinal tract it adsorbs the toxins as it goes along but never harming the body in the process.

How Can Charcoal Adsorb Toxins and Drugs from the Blood?

Research shows that drugs, chemicals, poisons, and unwanted substances are adsorbed by the charcoal after they have been returned to the digestive tract from the blood. Orally administered medications are not likely to be adsorbed during the use of charcoal. Some of the drugs that one chooses to take for medical problems under medical supervision will not be stopped or inhibited.

How Does One Take Charcoal?

The charcoal is tasteless but somewhat gritty. It is best taken "straight" in water or juice but without synthetic sweeteners or other additives. Studies have shown that taking charcoal in compacted tablets along with the addition of other constituents required to Produce those tablets will diminish appreciably the adsorption of activated charcoal.

Some have tried to put the activated granulated charcoal into their own gelatin capsules. This is somewhat effective, but should only be done if the crystals are impossible to ingest in the pure crystal powder form. Some have tried a variety of methods to swallow the charcoal. 1. Putting the charcoal in a small amount of water or juice and swallowing it followed by more liquid to wash it down. 2. Putting a little in the mouth, tilt the head backwards, and drop a teaspoon or less of charcoal crystals into the liquid in the mouth, swallow and follow with more liquid if needed. 3. Only as a last recourse should one put charcoal in gelatin capsules to take it.

The best time to take charcoal is on an empty stomach before breakfast and before bedtime. Some have found that by taking it 30 minutes before dinner, bloating is helped significantly. Do not take charcoal after a meal unless it is 3hrs. or more. For best results it is important to follow charcoal either immediately or within 30 minutes with psyllium hu5ks (blended in water or juice), and a good herbal tablet. Charcoal will not move through the intestinal tract because it is inert and therefore needs the help of a bulking agent, psyllium, and the catalyst, the herbal laxative.
